Jorge Adalberto Diaz

Jorge Adalberto Diaz passed away on October 26th, 2025. He was born on June 4th, 1938 to Jose Mundo and Virginia Perez in Coamo, Puerto Rico.

Jorge lived a full and remarkable life centered around faith, family, and service. He met the love of his life, Genoveva, at their workplace, "El Diario" La Prensa NY newspaper, where their beautiful 62-year love story began. Jorge worked in advertising before later joining Royal Wine Corporation as a wine salesman, a career he cherished and proudly continued until his retirement at the age of 82.

Throughout his life, Jorge dedicated himself to helping others and giving back to his community. In his younger years, he was a member of the Committee for Disabled Children and a proud member of the Borinquen Lions Club for 32 years. He also faithfully served 20 years in the National Guard, exemplifying his deep love for his country and his commitment to service.

A lifelong New York Yankees fan, Jorge rarely missed a game and always cheered for his team with pride. He was a true gentleman. Graceful, kind, and respectful to everyone he met. Beyond his many accomplishments, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, whether celebrating birthdays, going out to dinner, or enjoying a glass of wine together during happy hour.

He loved God, his country, and his family above all else, and his warmth, humor, and gentle spirit will be remembered forever.

Jorge’s memory is carried ever forwards by his loving wife: Genoveva Diaz; his daughter: Elaine Schnepf (Michael); his grandchildren: Victoria Finnegan (Vincent) and Lauren Schnepf; and his siblings: Irma Bunora and Jose Mundo Jr.

A visitation will be held for Jorge at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 south St, Danbury, CT.) on Wednesday, October 29th, 2025 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Peter’s Church (104 Main St, Danbury, CT) on Thursday, October 30th, 2025 at 10:30am. Burial will immediately follow.
