The Cole Family is sad to announce the sudden passing of dedicated Father, grandfather, son, brother and Retired Newtown Police Sergeant Johnny Cole on September 19, 2022. He was 60 years old. Johnny was born to Pearline Harris and the late Quiney Cole on October 4, 1961 in Kissimmee, FL. He graduated from Danbury High School in 1979 before attending Norwalk Community college.
Shortly after, Johnny joined the Patrol Division of the Newtown Police Department in 1989 where he served as a patrol officer, temporary detective, and spent time assigned to the Statewide Narcotics Task Force. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1999 and appointed Detective Sergeant in 2006. Cole retired from service in 2014 and was affectionately known by his NPD family as, “Johnny,” or, “JC,” and as “Smoke” to his friends and family. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and the communities that he served. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends. Our hearts are truly saddened.Johnny is not only survived by his children Lawrence Anderson, Johnny Anderson, Marlena Anderson, Heather McDermott, Adam Cole, Taylor Cole and Chad Cole, his brothers; Rocky Harris and his wife Sharon, Kenny Cole, the late Carolyn Cole, Ricky Cole and his life partner Roberta Watson, James Cole and his wife Pauline, Jonathan Cole and his wife Deborah and Timothy Cole and sister Carleen Cole. Grandchildren Shania Anderson, Logan Flood, Jayden Anderson, Destiniece Anderson, Giana Anderson, Scarlett Harris, Skye Harris, Sasha Anderson and great grandchildren Pierce Cole and Chris Ardis Jr. A celebration of life gathering will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022 at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South Street, Danbury) from 6pm-8pm. Interment will be private.
