John T. Ofiero Jr., known as Jay by most, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital on July 22, 2023. He was 77 years old.
Born on May 16, 1946 in Stamford, CT, son of the late John T. and Jeanne (Carlson) Ofiero. John graduated from Darien High School and graduated from Norwalk Tech School with a associates degree in electrical engineering.
Jay was married to the love of his life Lucille Mayfield on October 7, 1967. Together they enjoyed 55 years of marriage. Jay was a sanitation worker/senior machine operator with Clairol for over 46 years before retiring. In retirement he enjoyed spending time with family. A favorite of Jay’s pastime was watching and cheering UCONN Women’s Basketball. Occasionally Jay and LuLu could be found at the casino.
Jay is not only survived by his loving wife Lucille but also his children; Joanne Ofiero (Jason Leonard) and John Ofiero and his siblings Kenneth Ofiero (Peggy) and Gene Ofiero. Jay was loved by everyone that knew him.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday July 29th, 2023 from 12:00 - 2:00pm at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South Street).
