John Douglas Rogers Jr.

John Douglas Rogers Jr., who was also known by his family and friends as “Dunkie” of Danbury, CT, went to be with the lord on October 18, 2024. He was 75 years old. John was born on August 25, 1949, in Bennettsville, SC, son of the late John D. Rogers Sr. and Mary (Curtis) Rogers. The family moved to Brooklyn, NY in the mid-1950s and later relocated to Danbury, CT. While residing in Danbury, CT, John met and married the love of his life Fannie Baggins on April 26, 1970.

John worked for Rapid Power Technologies for 30 years and NeeltranInc. for several years before retiring. John enjoyed fishing with his friends and family and especially with his son, John D. Rogers III. He loved his music, trips to the casinos and cooking for his family. John was a solid example of how a man is to love his wife and lead his family with discipline and Humor and always telling jokes. John was the life of the party and also known for his stylish mustache. He was a loving, caring and kind person. When you were in his presence, you felt the love. John will be forever loved and missed.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Fannie (Baggins) Rogers, and his beloved children; Tyrone Carolina, Tanya Rogers, John D. Rogers III, Tanisha Rogers, Tia Rogers and Talana Rogers. He leaves a host of grandchildren, Malik Sanders, Jarais Rogers, Tianna Rogers, Tanay Rogers, Tyyanna Carolina, Talana (Erika) Rogers, Zamia Rogers, Taya Rogers, Janay Coombs, Terrell Coombs. One great grandchild, Naomi Sanders. 

Preceding him in death are his loving parents, Mary and John D. Rogers Sr., along with his brothers Bobby Williams, Matthew Rogers, Lonnie Carl Rogers, Guerry Rogers, Bobby Rogers, James Marshall Rogers. He also leaves behind his brother, Harris Rogers (Faith) of McColl, SC, his sisters; Mary McRae (Thomas Sr.) Naugatuck, CT, Angelina Lawson, Margaret Victor (Gustave Jr.), Avon Ballard (Rodney), Zenobia Rogers and Jacqueline Rogers all of Bennettsville, SC. Lastly, he leaves behind special nieces and nephews, Jennifer Rogers, Wanda Kenney, Miriam Williams, Mickey Williams, Floyd (Bam) Williams, David Brown and an abundance of nieces, nephewscousins and friends.

A homegoing service will be celebrated on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024, at New Hope Baptist Church, Danbury, CT at 3pm, visitation will be held prior beginning at 2 pm. A private cremation will be held. Danbury Memorial Funeral Home, visit www.danburymemorial.comto send the family condolences.
