John M Peters

John Michael Peters (Mike), 83, died Monday, January 18, 2021, at his home in New Fairfield, Connecticut. Mike was born in Monroe, Michigan on October 23, 1937. He graduated from Catholic Central High School in Monroe, Michigan, and the University of Detroit where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting and a Masters’ Degree in finance. After working in corporate finance in Detroit, MI, Cleveland, OH, and Norwalk, CT, he retired after 20 years as Controller of Stew Leonard’s Dairy.

MIke was an active member of St. Edward the Confessor Parish since 1972. He loved spending time with his family, going to Cape Cod, following the Detroit Tigers, and going for coffee with his friends. Mike and Sue traveled extensively with friends and family in both Europe and North America. During his retirement, he especially enjoyed spending time with his youngest grandaughters. A private Funeral Mass was held. 

Mike is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sue Peters, and his four children: Mark Peters, wife Susan, and three children: Samantha, Jack, and Maggie; Katie Peters, husband Howard, and two children Alex and Nicholas; Tom Peters, wife Jessica, and two children Ruby and Violet; Jennifer Carignan, husband Jon, and two children Laura Sue and Maeve. He is also survived by his three brothers: Karl and his wife, Lila, Robert and his wife, Dorothy, and William and his wife Margarita, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is being planned for later in the year. Our Mike, Dad, Pa was extremely kind and generous during his lifetime. He will be loved and remembered for this always.
