John Howard Krafick

John Howard Krafick ‘Jack’, of New Milford, CT, passed away in the comfort of his home and family on May 10, 2026. He was 89 years old.

Born on August 26, 1936 in Bridgeport, CT, son of the late John and Helen (Bisco) Krafick. Jack graduated from Danbury High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Danbury Teachers College. Jack was married to Larrie Krafick. She predeceased Jack in 2019.  He is also predeceased by his sister Dorothy.

Jack started his teaching career at Mill Ridge Elementary School in Danbury. He then moved on to Pound Ridge Elementary School in Bedford, New York where he worked for 37 years.  In addition he worked evenings at Hoffman Fuel as a dispatcher for 35 years. He enjoyed playing baseball, softball, golf and tennis. He also enjoyed fishing and boating.  He loved his trips to Outer Banks where he spent time with his OBX families whom he loved as his own. Jack was known for bringing laughter wherever he went.  A natural storyteller with a gift for making people feel welcome.  People were always drawn to Jack's humor, warmth, and larger-than life personality.

Jack is lovingly survived by his seven children from his previous marriage to Patricia Bowen; Kathleen (Bob) Benzing of Brookfield CT, John (Donna) Krafick Jr. of New Milford CT, Ellen Krafick of Waterbury, CT, David (Beth) Krafick of Danbury, CT, Steven (Krista) Krafick of Spring Hill FL, Eileen Krafick of Danbury CT, Christine Volpe of East Haddam CT; his 14 grandchildren; his 3 great grandchildren and his nephew Tom Tomczyk of PA and his faithful dog Willy.  

Jack’s wishes were for a simple cremation. Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South Street) assisted the family with arrangements. To send the family condolences please visit www.danburymemorial.com.  There will be a Celebration of Life on June 13th at the Danbury Irish club from 1-4 pm.
