John Patrick Ginty, known as Pat by his friends, died peacefully on March 11, 2026. He was 71 years old.
He was born on March 26, 1954 in Danbury, CT, son of the late John Edward and Phyllis A. (Ziegler) Ginty. He was a graduate of the 1972 class at Danbury High School. Pat was a postal carrier with the US Post Office for 40 years but his career was cut short in 2015 when he suffered a stroke, which forced his retirement. He was a dedicated worker and enjoyed his time with the USPS, always carrying lollipops for the children and dog biscuits for the dogs on his route.
Pat is lovingly survived by his sister Maureen Hawthorne and her husband Brian, his niece Maura Smith and her husband Steven, and his great nephew and niece, Ian and Lily.
Pat was an avid NY Giants and Boston Red Sox fan; you could always find him rooting for his Giants (no matter their record) on fall Sunday afternoons or following his Red Sox, from spring training through their whole season. He loved attending Saturday breakfasts with his friends at JK’s until Covid cut them short. Pat was a very kind and caring person; his friends and neighbors knew they could count on him. His joy was being “Uncle Pat” to Maura and Steve, but especially Ian and Lily. The highlight of his year was the pig roast at his sister’s house each summer, where he was the ringmaster.
Per Pat’s wish a private cremation will be held. A celebration of his life will be held in the summer. Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South Street) assisted his family with arrangements. To send condolences please visit www.Danburymemorial.com (http://www.danburymemorial.com/)
