John Barry Obituary

John Roger Barry, affectionately known as "Red" has gone to heaven on Sunday, December 28th surrounded by his loving family. John was born at Danbury Hospital on February 21,1936 and raised in Bethel, CT by parents Jack and Inez Barry.

John graduated from Bethel High School and started building houses with his brother-in-law Jerry Smith before joining the Electrical Union IBEW 488 and starting his career as an outstanding electrician. John worked with his brother Stuart Barry for over 30 years then finished out his successful career with Paul Dinto Electric and retired in 1998. He was incredibly mechanical and could repair anything.

Red's greatest love and accomplishment was his tight knit family. He married his sweetheart Linda (Lockwood) on May 11, 1963. They relocated to New Fairfield and started their family of 3 boys, John (Carrie), Bobby (Krissy), and Stephen. All three boys followed in their Dad's footsteps and are also electricians. John's love spilled over to the next generation, his 7 Grandchildren: Ashley, Heather (Karina), Danielle, Jack, Carson, Christopher and Robert plus great granddaughter Avery. Red is also survived by his sister Elaine Smith as well as Sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.

John and Linda have been married for 62 loving years. Always side by side, they enjoyed family trips to the Jersey Shore, huge July 4th parties, get-a-ways to the Casinos, and any grandchild related activity. Red particularly loved fishing and spending time on his bass boat on Candlewood Lake,

John is preceded by his parents Jack and Inez Barry and brother Stuart. Red will be known for his mechanical ability, easy going attitude, love of fishing, Budweiser, cool dips in his pool, the fact he never had a leaf in his yard and the twinkle in his eye he held for his wife Linda.

The Barry Family would like to thank the Danbury Regional Hospice for their extraordinary care and comfort of John. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Danbury Regional Hospice, 30 Milestone Road, Danbury, CT 06810 would be appreciated.
