John Joseph Ahearn “Jack”, passed away quickly and unexpectedly on November 8, 2023 at Danbury Hospital Center. He was 96 years old.
Born on March 4, 1927 in Bronx, New York, son of the late John J. and Veronica (Eder) Ahearn. He was a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School, Bronx, NY. Jack honorably served in the US Army during WWII where he received the WWII Victory Medal. Jack married the love of his life Marie T. Coccaro on May 10,1952. Marie predeceased John on October 31, 2013.
Jack was a surveyor with Con Edison for many years before his retirement, although he never really retired. He had a great sense of humor and would make anyone smile or laugh.
Jack is survived by his children; Patrice and her husband Juan A. ‘Tony’ of Cold Spring, NY, John J. III ‘Jack’ and his wife Jessica of Yonkers, NY, Lawrence ‘Larry’ and his wife Gelsomina of Yonkers, NY, his grandchildren; Danielle Stracci (Joseph), Lawrence ‘Larry’ Jr (Melissa), Nicholas and Christopher, his step grandchildren; Jason and Jennifer, and his great grandchildren; Luna Dill, Marlow Jody, June Marie, Lawrence III, Ayla and Grayson.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday November 11, 2023 from 12pm-2pm at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South Street, Danbury). A religious service will begin at around 2:30pm with military honors prior. Interment will be private.
