Jestina Brown, lovingly known as Mama, transitioned to her eternal rest on August 25, 2024. Born on March 14, 1936 in West Moreland, Jamaica, she was one of six children of Thomas and Mary Hamilton.
Jestina married and was blessed with three children: Carol, Brenda, and Chris. In 1980, she bravely migrated to the United States, providing a better life not only for her children but also for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and beyond. Her steadfast support was crucial in helping us all reach our goals and achieve success.
Jestina’s spirit of service defined her life. She spent many years as a Certified Nursing Assistant and later enriched the lives of countless children while working at Good Care Daycare. Her hobbies included sewing and finding treasures through clothing catalogs. A lover of fashion, she was always put together with jewelry and stylish attire. She never left home without her signature lipstick.
While we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the incredible life she lived and the enduring mark she made on all of us. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, and the love she shared will remain a cherished part of our lives forever.
A memorial service to honor Jestina’s life and contributions will be held at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South St., Danbury, CT 06810) on Wednesday, September 4th, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with the home going service beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Wooster Cemetery (20 Ellsworth Ave., Danbury, CT 06810).
