Jamie Erwin Obituary

Jamie Christopher Erwin of Redding died peacefully with his family by his side on June 13, 2022 at Regional Hospice after a valiant 17 year battle against the rare disease Neuromyelitis Optica. Born November 30, 1979 in Nyack, NY to Timothy and Lillian (Partridge) Erwin. He was 42 years old.

Jamie graduated from Joel Barlow High School where he excelled in math, science, athletics, and performing arts. He played Tennis, Basketball and ran Cross Country all four years and was Captain of the Tennis Team as a Senior. He enjoyed being a part of the Select Choir and traveled to NYC and internationally to perform. He also enjoyed playing the lead role in the Senior musical “The Boyfriend”.

Jamie attended the University of Delaware where he studied abroad, fostered lifelong relationships and earned a Bachelors degree in History. One of Jamie’s true passions was traveling. He enjoyed traveling to places like Hawaii, Europe and skiing many mountains throughout the US and Canada. The state of Delaware meant a lot to Jamie from college to the beaches, to the cities. After college, Jamie was employed at ING Direct and quickly advanced to Executive Senior Loan Specialist specifically working with struggling families through Loss Mitigation. In 2005, Jamie purchased a beautiful home in the Trolley Square section of Wilmington, DE where he lived happily until his disease caused him to become paralyzed 6 years later. Jamie returned home to Redding, CT in 2011 where he did his best to fight his disease with the support of his family but his disease ultimately caused him to become a quadriplegic.

Jamie is survived not only by his parents Timothy and Lillian, but by his brother Dr. Justin Erwin of Brussels, Belgium, his grandmother Nancy Erwin, many, many Aunts and Uncles and Cousins galore. Jamie was extremely close to his large extended family and they brought him comfort through his many years of struggles. Jamie’s kind and generous spirit surrounded him many wonderful people and he will be greatly missed.
