James Francis Short, son of the late William B. Short and Iva Dilts Short, was born on June 5th, 1946 in Wilmington, Delaware. James, known as Jim, was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He passed away December 24th , 2025, in Danbury, Connecticut.
Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving his country in the Vietnam War. A proud
veteran, Jim could always be found wearing his Navy hat or enjoying his extensive collection of Navy hats. After the service, Jim became a self-employed carpenter.
He took great pride in his work and became known for being very skilled. He
enjoyed spending time with family and friends fishing, boating, and especially
watching his favorite team, the Philadelphia Eagles.
In addition, he relished his time playing pool with his friend Ramone.
James leaves behind his beloved grandchildren; Frank J. Short Jr., Jack W. Short, and James F. Short. He is survived by his brother, William R. Short Sr. of New Castle, Delaware, and his sister Beverly E. Small of Plant City, Florida. He is also survived by many family members including Jennifer Short-Serpa, and Cynthia Costil. He is predeceased by his two sons; Frank J. Short and James F. Short II, as well as his sister Carole Sokira.

dedication, and countless hours they devoted to providing care for Jim.
