James William Quine Sr Obituary

James William Quine Sr. passed away on June 5, 2026 at Danbury Hospital. He was 76 years old.


Born on May 6, 1950 in Danbury, CT, he was the son of the late Frederick and Eileen (Piotti) Quine. James was a graduate of Danbury High School. Following high school, James enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1969.


James worked as a manager for Student Transportation of America in Danbury, CT. He enjoyed watching sports and going fishing.


James is survived by his children, Jennifer Detzer of Stamford; Christina DiBernardino and her husband Vincent of Florida; James Quine Jr. and his wife Kirsten of Pawling, NY; Cassandra Colby and her husband Chris Colby of Danbury; Kyle Quine and his wife Katie Quine of New Milford; and Matthew Quine and his fiancée Marissa Campbell of Ridgefield. He is also survived by his seventeen grandchildren; by his aunt,  “Moo,” who was like a second mother to him; and by his cousin,“Missy.” He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Quine.


A celebration of life gathering will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South Street, Danbury). A private cremation will follow.
