Jack Alan Robbins, Ph.D.
June 22, 1944 – October 30, 2025
Jack Alan Robbins, Ph.D., 81, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Born in Mount Vernon, New York, on June 22, 1944, Jack was a lifelong public servant, scholar, and family man. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame and earned his master’s and Ph.D. in political science from Fordham University.
Jack devoted more than three decades to Westchester County, where he rose to Deputy Commissioner of Parks, Recreation, and Conservation. He played a key role in preserving and developing county treasures such as Muscoot Farm, Lasdon Park and Arboretum, Saxon Woods, and the Edith G. Read Sanctuary, ensuring these parks could be enjoyed by generations to come. After retirement, he continued to share his knowledge and love of learning as a college professor, and later served on the Connecticut Historic Preservation Council, where he remained a passionate advocate for conservation and ethical government.
A man of intellect and integrity, Jack was also a mentor, poet, and historian, editing The Complete Poetry of John Reed and leaving behind a collection of scholarly papers housed by the Wisconsin Historical Society.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret; his three sons, Phillip, Matthew, and Timothy; and two cherished grandchildren, Henry and Poppy, who brought him endless joy. He will be remembered for his deep love of family, his lifelong dedication to public service, and his belief that government should serve all people with fairness and compassion.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 1, at 1:00 p.m. at Danbury Memorial. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Bronx Zoo and the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Jack’s memory.
