Isabel Maria Amaral Varejao (affectionately known as Isy) passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on December 18, 2020 at Regional Hospice in Danbury, CT while her daughter's held her hands. Isy was born on
March 28, 1958 in Mozambique, Africa to Marilia DaSilva Amaral (Danbury, CT) and the late Antonio Amaral.
Isy worked for the Danbury Public School System for over 25 years, most recently as a District Registrar.
Isy was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family fiercely.
Isy is survived by her two beloved daughters Sandy Sanchez (Danbury, CT) and Samantha Rios (Georgetown, KY). Sister Carla Heitor (Portugal). Beloved friend Ramiro Varejao (Florida). As well as four cherished grandchildren: Maiya Rios, Damien Sanchez, Noah Rios, and Scarlett Rios. She is also survived by her nephew and nieces: Daniel Heitor, Diana Heitor and Raquel Heitor.
Isy, known for her huge heart and infectious laugh, made friends everywhere she went. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Due to the restrictions of Covid-19, there will be no services at this time. One of Isy's last wishes was to have a Celebration of Life for us all to gather, laugh and remember the remarkable woman she was. Her daughters will honor this wish when it is safe to do so.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Isy's memory to Regional Hospice in Danbury.
