Humberto Zuluaga, of Litchfield, CT, died peacefully on Friday June 17, 2022 at Regional Hospice of Danbury after a quick but valiant battle against pancreatic cancer. He was 77 years old.
Born on December 11, 1944 in Yarumal, Colombia, son of the late Luis and Maria (Mejia) Zuluaga. Humberto received a business degree in Colombia before coming to the United States in 1964. While helping a friend open a new restaurant, Humberto met the love of his life, Olga Palmerini. Humberto and Olga married on October 15, 1967.
Humberto was the owner and operator of Capriccio Restaurant in Brewster, NY. Together he and Olga opened the doors of the restaurant in 1979 and happily retired in 2004. Humberto loved to cook and eat. He loved to travel the world finding an adventure in all the places he went to. He enjoyed fishing, listening to music and learning- especially a new language. Humberto was a people person, he had a big heart, great sense of humor and was loved by all.
Humberto is survived by his loving wife Olga; his daughter, Patricia and her husband Chad Savage; his son, John Zuluaga; his grandchildren, Anastasia, Alexander, Annabel and Nina; his many siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter in law Brenda Zuluaga.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on Tuesday June 21, 2022 at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South Street, Danbury) from 4pm-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 29 Golden Hill Rd, Danbury, CT 06811 on Wednesday June 22, 2022 at 10am. Interment will be private.
