Greg Rux Obituary

Greg A. Rux, a lifelong resident of Danbury, CT, passed away peacefully at Danbury Hospital on May 17, 2025, after a yearlong courageous battle with cancer. He was 70 years old.

Born on April 8, 1955, in Danbury, Greg was the son of the late Donald J. Rux and is survived by his mother, Gail (Mortensen) Rux. He graduated from Henry Abbott Technical High School in 1974 for Electrical.

Greg began his career at Norbert E. Mitchell Oil Co., where he became an oil truck driver. A few years later, he was recruited by his father-in-law to join Roger Electric, where he earned his electrical license and discovered a passion for the trade and business. He later co-owned and operated Rux Brothers Electric, and most recently served as head of building maintenance for the Town of Bethel. Greg was known for his strong work ethic, natural leadership, and the pride he took in a job well done. He genuinely enjoyed working with others and was always willing to lend a hand or share a laugh along the way.

On September 1, 1979, Greg married the love of his life, Joanne LeBlanc. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in love, laughter, and shared adventure. Their travels took them across the U.S. and Canada, often on bike trips that brought them joy and lasting memories. Greg was a proud and devoted father who cherished his children, always encouraging their dreams and celebrating their achievements.

A true “happy-go-lucky” spirit, Greg had an infectious laugh — one so distinct that you knew it was him the moment you heard it. He loved life and lived it on his terms, often saying, “It is what it is,” with a smile. His energy was magnetic, and his presence could light up any room.

Greg had a lifelong passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and Corvettes. He loved hitting the open road on his bike, cruising in his car, and rarely without classic rock or country music playing in the background. He actively participated in both softball and bowling leagues for many years. Sundays were sacred — reserved for playing golf, NASCAR and NY Jets football. He lived fully and found joy in the simple things.

Greg is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Joanne; his children, Carrie Ann Rux and Shawn Rux (Ashley); and his adored grandchildren, Aurora Rux, Elliott Beers, and Emmett Beers. He is also survived by his siblings: Donna Rux-Hyman (Eric), Mark Rux (Jennifer), Donald Rux (Karyee), and Lori Augustine; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family, and lifelong friends.

A celebration of Greg’s life will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South Street, Danbury) from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with words of remembrance beginning at 12:30 p.m.
