Gloria Jackson Peterson of Danbury, CT transitioned to her Heavenly Home at the age of 68 on Sunday, December 10, 2023. After a long and courageous battle with Metastatic Breast Cancer and End Stage Renal Disease, Gloria fought the good fight, finished the race, and resides in Eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
On August 4, 1955, Gloria Mildred Jackson along with her identical twin sister, Gladys Marie Jackson was born in Danbury, CT to the late “Philip” Douglas Jackson and the late Lillian Evelyn Corine (Baldwin) Jackson.
Gloria daily lived her best life bravely with resilience, determination, passion and purpose. When asked how she was, Gloria’s response was often, “Excellent!” Even while combating chronic and progressive illnesses, at times with zeal, Gloria demonstrated a shop-‘til-you-drop can-do-energy that defied logic. Gloria was an incredibly inspirational vivacious woman who loved the arts, movies, and music; especially gospel and 70’s genre. Among her favorite musical artists were Stevie Wonder, Richard Smallwood, twins Andre and Sandra Crouch, Ray Charles, Larnell Harris, Sandi Patti, Dottie Rambo, Tevin Campbell, the Jackson’s, the Winans, Earth, Wind and Fire, DeBarge, the Bee Gees, the Commodores, the Doobie Brothers, Elton John, and Russ Taff. Gloria was a gifted sketch-artist who diligently labored hours on each pencil-sketched project. Musically talented, Gloria also enjoyed dancing, playing her clarinets, keyboards, harmonicas, and recorders from her small collection of instruments. Through the years, Gloria collected a number of CD players, tape recorders, TVs, VCRs, and clocks. She knew how to operate and fix a number of electronic devices. It was really something to watch her demonstrate and teach others how to use various tasks and apps on her iPhone.
Gloria had a unique style and delighted in creating her distinctive wardrobe. She often dressed in vibrant colors with beautifully printed patterns, adorned with a lovely colorful coordinated headpiece and matching socks. She didn’t go anywhere without her iPhone enclosed in its red leather crossbody case and her black and white “I Love Jesus” key lanyard imprinted with a bright red heart adorned around her neck. Most of all, Gloria loved Jesus Christ…
With a deep dimple on her left cheek, Gloria’s smile was charming and contagious. Without speaking a word, her beautiful bright round eyes spoke volumes. Along with her charming smile, Gloria was very smart and witty with a keen sense of humor, a genuine zeal for life, and an insatiable appetite for well prepared meals. Gloria enjoyed cooking, but she sure loved her takeout too!
At times, Gloria was a force to be reckoned with. Gloria “liked what she liked” and if she didn’t like something, she wasn’t shy about letting it be known. However, if Gloria liked something, she might not say anything, but you could always tell when she was pleased, simply by the beautiful glowing expression on her face. Gloria will greatly be missed — until we meet again.
Along with her parents, Gloria Mildred (Jackson) Peterson was predeceased by her identical beloved twin sister Gladys Marie Jackson; her beloved husband of 30 years, Kevin Brian Peterson Sr.; and her beloved nephew Marcelo Carlos Ilogti Jr. Left to cherish Gloria’s memory is her beloved son, Kevin Brian Peterson Worthington (Kevin Jr., lovingly nicknamed KJ); her sisters Wendy Vereen (husband Glenn) of Charlotte, NC; and Kimberly Ilogti (husband Marcelo Sr.) of Naugatuck, CT; her brother Wayne Jackson of Naugatuck, CT; her aunts Patricia Owens of Bradenton, FL; and Diane Robinson (husband Frank) of Redding, CT; along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
