Glenniss Pamela Edwards, died at her home in Waterbury, CT, on Tuesday January 9 th , 2024. She was 62 years old.
Glenniss was born on July 18th , 1961, in Barbados, West Indies to the late Greta Edwards.
Glenniss was the first born of Greta’s four children. Glenniss attended Boscobelle Girls School and later she furthered her education at the Modern High School. In 1979, Glenniss moved from Barbados to reside in Brooklyn, NY with her mother and siblings. Remaining in Brooklyn, NY, Glenniss would then set out on her own to make a home for herself and her children. In 2004, Glenniss moved to Waterbury, CT to be closer to her mother and siblings who were then residing in Danbury, CT.
Throughout her life, Glenniss did office work and held employment at the post office, police station, and later as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) but her main role in life was that of a mother. Glenniss’ greatest joy in life were her children and she was their biggest cheerleader.
Glenniss, often known as “Pam”, was a caring daughter, granddaughter, mother, grandmother, sister, overall family member, and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family, singing hymns and being a connoisseur and collector of Mickey Mouse memorabilia. Glenniss was an avid reader and enjoyed hosting get-togethers for her family and friends. No matter the holiday or birthday, her house was the gathering place for a party or cookout to celebrate. She enjoyed music, dancing, fashion, cooking, watching movies and her favorite television shows and exploring new restaurants and cuisine. Glenniss was also a huge sports fan, particularly basketball. She would try her best not to miss a game and could be heard enthusiastically cheering for her favorite team and players.
Glenniss was preceded in death by her grandmother: Cynthia Edwards, her mother: Greta Edwards and her granddaughter: Jamiyah Edwards.
Glenniss is survived by her four beloved children: David Edwards (Alicia), Jesse Edwards (Ashley), John Gilkes (Daisy), and Jamar Edwards. Eight grandchildren: Dominique Davis, Jayden Locke, Jerami Edwards, Aamani Locke, Atalia Locke, Amirah Locke, Julius Edwards and Jamari Edwards. Her siblings: Roderick Edwards (Alexandra), Anthony Edwards and Nicole Hayes. Her great aunt: Rita Small. Her uncles and aunts: Terence Boyce (Sheila), James Edwards (Cathy), Barbara Boyce (Euclid), Ventrice Edwards and Beverley Edwards. Her nieces: Ashleigh Edwards and Nadine Edwards and many cousins including Tracy Watson (Julian) and Terence Boyce, Jr.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on Monday, January 22nd, 2024, from 10am-11am at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home with a service beginning at 11am. Interment will follow at Wooster Cemetery in Danbury, CT.
