George D’Aiello passed away peacefully on March 6, 2020 at Bethel Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Bethel, Connecticut. Born on June 23, 1938 to George and Virginia D’Aiello in the Bronx, New York, George spent the majority of his life in the greater New York City area before moving to Connecticut with his wife, Sybil in 1999.
Upon graduating high school, George joined the U.S. Army where he served as a Military Police Officer. Following his time in the service he went on to work for 38 years as a systems analyst for a major insurance company. George, known fondly by those close to him as “Sly” for his quick wit and sarcastic sense of humor, was ever devoted to his family and loved spending as much time with them as possible. He was an avid sports fan and could always be found pulling for the New York Yankees and New York Giants. George appreciated the simple things in life, spending time with his dog, Benji and enjoying a pasta dinner on a Sunday evening.
George is survived by his loving wife Sybil D’Aiello, his two beloved daughters Melanie Mele (Steven), Deanne Petriccione (James), his sister Patricia DeMeo, nieces Lori Ann Sarmiento (Pete), Cathie DeMeo, and nephew Dr. James DeMeo (Marissa). George loved spending time with and will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Gina Cypranowski (Mike), Lauren Franks (Jesse), Christy Petriccione, Stefanie Mele, Steven Mele, and great grandchildren Jacob, Addison, and Evie.
