Francis Eugene Burdick passed away peacefully on July 22, 2021 at Danbury Hospital. Francis was born on July 7, 1937 in New Milford, CT to the late Lois (Smith) and Leon Burdick. Husband of Carol (Leviness) Burdick.
Francis was the middle child of 7often referring to himself as the youngest boy and oldest girl. Three older brothers, Philip, predeceased Richard (Dickie) and predeceased Alan and 3 younger sisters predeceased Fayleen Sauer, predeceased Sherry Powell and Gail Niles. With so many siblings and extended family in his neighborhood his childhood taught him to be strong, resilient and make the best of what life has to offer each day.
Francis was a retired member of local 424 Iron Workers Union. He loved to be outdoors hunting and fishing and going flea markets and tag sales. Francis found great pride and enjoyment in his later years doing yard work/mowing his lawn. He was active at both Danbury and Brookfield senior centers playing cards and was especially proud of being the Wii Bowling Champion. Another highlight of his later years was the Danbury Speedway Race Arena Reunion where he enjoyed being acknowledged for his participation as a stock car driver in his youth really made him feel like a celebrity! Above all things Francis enjoyed being with his family, especially the special times with his grandchildren and his great grandchildren.
Francis is survived by his loving wife Carol Burdick, his beloved children Carol St. Amand Romer, Tammy Ashley, Kim Fleming, and Scott Burdick, his grandchildren Kevin St. Amand, Darrin St. Amand, Shane Fleming, Tara St. Amand, Kayla Fleming, Mark Ashley, Amanda Pap-nemes, and Carley Thompson as well as his great grandchildren Warren, Darrin, Fern, Olivia and Daphne.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family and announced at a later date.
