Eugene Arnold Reiske

Eugene A. Reiske of New Milford, CT passed away on January 25, 2025, just shy of his 84th birthday. Born January 27, 1941, in Danbury, CT, Gene was the son of the late Arnold and Etura Reiske. Gene was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, PePa, Pops, and friend to many in the community.

Gene grew up in Danbury and graduated from Henry Abbott Tech in 1960 as a machinist. Gene worked in the Danbury area for many years. When Columbia Magnetics, a division of CBS records, closed, Gene changed careers, serving as Manager of Center Cemetery in New Milford until his retirement in 2006. Upon retirement, Gene and Terri, the love of his life, became snowbirds wintering with campground friends in Florida.

Gene’s compassionate nature and fun-loving spirit made him a cherished friend to many. He was happiest spending time with his family and friends whether on the golf course, in the campground, at a card table, or presiding over Sunday dinners. Not one to take life too seriously, he loved a good practical joke, and a good summer water fight.

Gene is survived by his wife of 38 years, Theresa; his children: Tammy Clinton (Wayne), Elizabeth Gallo (Michael), Eugene Reiske and his stepchildren Michael Richardson (Elaine), Timothy Richardson (Audrey), and Karen McCague (Jim); 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, as well as his remaining siblings, Ronald (Marlene), Robert, Sally, Neil (Debbie) and several nieces and nephews. He joins his brothers Emil and Herb and sister Etura, and many other relatives and friends who predeceased him.

In lieu of flowers, his family requests that you perform an unexpected act of kindness. Gene’s legacy is one of giving, and to honor his memory, we should all carry that spirit forward. There will be a celebration of his amazing life on March 23, 2025, at 1 PM at the Odd Fellows Hall, Rt 7, New Milford, CT.
