Eric Greyson Johnson

Eric Greyson Johnson, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 70. Born on February 4, 1955, Eric lived a life defined by integrity, compassion, and an unwavering positive spirit. 

His distinguished finance career included 35 years at IBM followed by years as CFO at Aricent, Altran, Capgemini, and NewRocket, where his leadership and character earned him deep respect from colleagues across the globe. His sharp mind, quick wit, and steady hand helped guide his team through times of transformation and growth, but it was his calm demeanor and ethical compass that made the greatest impact on those around him. In all his positions, he thoroughly enjoyed working with, developing, and promoting his finance teams throughout the world. 

He felt honored to serve as a board member for the Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (“CdLS”), dedicating his financial guidance and calm confidence to support families and advance awareness for a condition that affected his daughter Emily. 

Despite his immensely successful career, Eric’s life revolved around his family – in particular, his wife, Nancy, and son, Anders. Whether it was golf trips or sporting events with Anders—especially football and basketball at their shared alma mater, the University of Michigan—traveling the world with Nancy, or simply dozing off on the couch as they watched TV, nothing brought him more joy than spending time with the people he loved most.

Eric is survived by his devoted son, Anders; his loving wife, Nancy; his sister, Murray; and many other family members and close friends that cherished his presence. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Emily, and his parents, James and Elizabeth. 

Those who knew Eric will remember him for his unshakable integrity, his warm and generous nature, and the optimism he carried even in the most difficult moments. He was a steady light for his loved ones and leaves behind a legacy of wisdom, courage, kindness, and humility.

A private memorial will be held for close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the CdLSFoundation. During football season, give a “Go Blue” for Eric when Michigan is on.
