Douglas F. Gallik, Jr.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas F. Gallik Jr, 72 of New Milford, CT. Doug, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025 surrounded by his family who loved him. Doug, fought a brave fight against cancer. Douglas F. Gallik Jr. was born on March 5, 1952 in Bronx, New York to Douglas F. Gallik Sr. and Jane Gallik. 

Doug, graduated in 1971 from Yorktown High School, Yorktown Hgts. New York.  Where he met the love of his life Diane Pilla Gallik, of [55] years. Doug and Diane moved to New Milford, CT. where they built a beautiful life together raising their two children, Darlene and Douglas.

Doug, was a hard working family man. He was a great husband, amazing father, an a very proud grandpa and great grandpa. To all his friends he will always be known as Doug, Dougie, Big Doug or just Dug. Doug, went on to trade school and received his licenses in plumbing. He was a great mentor to many young aspiring plumbers. In 2022 after forty-five years as a plumber, Doug, retired to spend his golden year’s with his wife Diane. He was enjoying every day to the fullest. He would spend many of his days working in the yard and mowing his lawn. He enjoyed driving around his hometown in his red truck waving to all who knew him and loved him.

Doug, was predeceased by both his parents, Douglas and Jane Gallik, he is survived by his wife Diane. His sister, Linda Pendergrass (Jerry) of Palmer, Alaska. His daughter, Darlene Gallik Thompson  (Tim). His son, Douglas S. Gallik (Lisa). He adored his beautiful grandchildren, Evrett Thompson (Erin), Ethan Thompson, Emily Thompson, McKayla Gammel, (PJ) Douglas R. Gallik and Isabella Gallik. His great grandchildren, Ryan Thompson and Sawyer Gammel. 

Danbury Memorial Funeral Home has care of Doug and his family. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 17th from 3-6:00 at 19 Main Street, New Milford, Ct. There will be a private family burial. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the New Milford, Fire Dept. Water Witch Hose Co. #2., 8 Prospect Hill Rd. New Milford, Ct. in Doug’s honor.
