Donna C. Eaker, age 88 of Brookfield, passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones at Regional Hospice of Danbury, Sunday April 12, 2026. She was born in St. James, MO on June 22, 1937, daughter of the late Maurice and Kathryn (White) Cape.
She married Thomas W. Eaker on August 3, 1958, and shared nearly 51 wonderful years together before his passing in 2009. Due to Tom’s career, they lived in many different states before settling in Pocantico Hills, NY to continue raising their 3 children. They later moved to Brookfield, CT where they were able to enjoy time with their expanding family who remained close by.
Donna had a passion for learning and mentoring, a gift that she shared as a teacher with the Pocantico Hills Central School (Sleepy Hollow, NY) for 35 years. She was a woman of faith, serving her church communities at the Union Church of Pocantico Hills and at the Congregational Church of Brookfield in various capacities, including the choir, volunteering on committees, and recent participation in Bible study and Serendippers. She was a talented cook, an inspired gardener, loved to spend time reading, and there wasn’t a jigsaw puzzle that she couldn’t tackle with ease.
Her biggest joys in life were being a loving mother, playful grandmother, and affectionate great-grandmother. She was happiest spending time with her family. She was always up front and center for every swim meet, sporting event, dance recital, graduation, and family gathering.
She will be sadly missed by her two sons, Ronald and his wife, Diane, David and his wife, Theresa; her daughter, Kay and her husband, Michael; her eight beloved grandchildren, Kelly (Stephen), Shannon (Shawn), Patrick (Ruby), Lauren, Camryn, Kathryn, Carolyn (Clifford), and Colleen (Thomas); and her eight great-grandchildren, Adelyn, Reagan, Grayson, Carter, Keegan, Oliver, Azalea, and Aidan. She is also survived by her sister, Kay as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service of memory and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 11:00am at the Congregational Church of Brookfield (160 Whisconier Road, Brookfield, CT 06804) with a time of refreshment and fellowship immediately following. A private family interment will take place before the service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Donna’s memory to Regional Hospice, 30 Milestone Rd, Danbury, CT or The Congregational Church of Brookfield, 160 Whisconier Rd, Brookfield, CT.
