Donald Henry Raab

Donald Henry Raab passed away on April 5, 2026. He was born on January 22, 1934, to Henry Raab and Emma Raab (Fulton) in Elmsford, NY.

Don began dating Margaret “Maggie” Mary Flanigan at age 17 after being introduced on a blind date. In April of 1954, during the Korean War, Donald entered the United States Army, and three years later in May 1957 he married Margaret. Don and Margaret have three children together: Donald, Kevin and Diane.

Don’s father’s career in law enforcement inspired Don’s decision to follow in his father’s footsteps. He served as a Police Officer for the City of Greenburg, NY, and later as an investigator for the National Auto Theft Bureau and Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.

The family would spend summers camping with many old friends from the Croton Falls/North Salem area, their old stomping grounds ~ each year going to different places together. One of their favorite locations, however, was Heather Hills in Montauk where they had spent many summers and in turn built many of their favorite memories. They had a lot of laughs together always ‘pranking’ one another ~ who could top who.

Don & Margaret enjoyed hosting gatherings in their home and made sure the holidays were very special. He was a life-long learner and studied wood working from his brother-in-law. In 1989, Don retired and he and Margaret moved from Somers to Virginia where they would enjoy their retirement years living in a lake community playing golf and enjoying meeting and making many long-lasting friendships.

Donald lived a long life and had an extended family to call his own as well as numerous devoted friends. He was pre-deceased by his father, Henry Raab, and his mother, Emma Raab (Fulton), his sister’s Olga (Soden) & Marie (Knapp); His Father-in-Law, Matthew Flanigan, and Mother-in-Law, Margaret Flanigan; two Brother-In-Laws, Jay Hahn and most recently, William Flanigan (Margaret’s oldest brother).

Donald Raab is survived by his beautiful & lovely wife, Margaret, and their three (3) children: Donald, Kevin (Karen), and Diane; their beloved grandchildren: Theresa (Jesse), Meagan, Keith (Nicole), Shawn (Rebecca) & Lauren (Matthew), great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Danbury Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, April 25th from 10am to 12pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a charitable contribution to the Alzheimer's Association in Donald's honor.
