Digna Almonte Obituary

Digna I. “Patria” Almonte Collado passed away on April 3, 2022 at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT.  Digna was born on January 25, 1949 in Juncalito, Dominican Republic to the late Matilde Collado (Cruz) and Alcedo de Jesus Almonte. Wife of the late Jose Maria “Pachu” Almonte Fernandez. Digna arrived in New York on January 25, 1970; she worked in various service industries. “Patria” and “Pachu'' were married on June 6, 1961 in El Cerrazo, Dominican Republic. 

She was renowned for her cooking, and being in the kitchen made her happy. Everyone who visited knew that there were multiple pots of food on the stove and a pot of coffee waiting for them. All of her life, she felt that if she was feeding you that all would be well. Next to cooking, she loved babysitting and taking care of children.  

Digna was loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving children Maria A. Almonte, Jacqueline C. Almonte-Acosta, Neil A. Almonte, Lorraine Almonte, and Nilda Almonte; as well as her grandchildren: Jerry Almonte, Alexis Aragon, Tiffany M. Aragon, Giselle Aragon, Garvey Aragon, Kirby Almonte, Kenneth Acosta, Dylan Acosta, Miranda Almonte, Andrew Almonte, Alicia Almonte, Jasmine Gutierrez, Sophie Almonte, and Candi Ansaldi and Keyli; and lastly, great-grandchildren: Arya Aragon, Scarlett Shaw, Atlas Aragon Almonte, and Vincent Ansaldi, Roslyn Ansaldi, and Miles Ansaldi.

She is survived by three brothers: Miguel “Vitelio” Almonte, Sergio Almonte, Joaquin Almonte; and three sisters Viviana Collado, Leida Almonte, and Chabela Almonte. She was loved by many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Wednesday April 6, 2022 at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South St, Danbury CT 06810) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a Funeral Mass to follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church (29 Golden Hill Rd, Danbury CT 06811) at 1:30 p.m. A Graveside Service will take place on Friday April 8, 2022 at St. Peter Cemetery (71 Lake Ave Ext, Danbury CT 06811) at 12 p.m.

 

Digna I. “Patria” Almonte Collado falleció el 3 de abril de 2022 en el Hospital Danbury en Danbury, CT. Digna nació el 25 de enero de 1949 en Juncalito, República Dominicana, hija de Matilde Collado (Cruz) y Alcedo de Jesús Almonte. Esposa del difunto José María “Pachu” Almonte Fernández. Digna llegó a Nueva York el 25 de enero de 1970; Trabajó en varias industrias de servicios. “Patria” y “Pachu'' se casaron el 6 de junio de 1961 en El Cerrazo, República Dominicana.

Era famosa por su cocina, y estar en la cocina la hacía feliz. Todos los que visitaron sabían que había varias ollas de comida en la estufa y una taza de café esperándolos. Toda su vida, ella sintió que si te estaba alimentando todo estaría bien. Además de cocinar, le encantaba cuidar niños y cuidar niños.

Digna fue amada por todos los que la conocieron. Le sobreviven sus queridos hijos María A. Almonte, Jacqueline C. Almonte-Acosta, Neil A. Almonte, Lorraine Almonte y Nilda Almonte; así como sus nietos: Jerry Almonte, Alexis Aragon, Tiffany M. Aragon, Giselle Aragon, Garvey Aragon, Kirby Almonte, Kenneth Acosta, Dylan Acosta, Miranda Almonte, Andrew Almonte, Alicia Almonte, Jasmine Gutierrez, Sophie Almonte y Candi Ansaldi y Keyli; y, por último, bisnietos: Arya Aragon, Scarlett Shaw, Atlas Aragon Almonte y Vincent Ansaldi, Roslyn Ansaldi y Miles Ansaldi.

Le sobreviven tres hermanos: Miguel “Vitelio” Almonte, Sergio Almonte, Joaquín Almonte; y tres hermanas Viviana Collado, Leida Almonte y Chabela Almonte. Fue amada por muchas sobrinas y sobrinos.

Se llevará a cabo una reunión de celebración de la vida el miércoles 6 de abril de 2022 en Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South St, Danbury CT 06810) de 10 a. m. a 1 p. m. con una Misa de funeral a seguir en la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe (29 Golden Hill Rd, Danbury CT 06811) a la 1:30 p.m. El entierro tendrá lugar el viernes 8 de abril de 2022 en el cementerio St. Peter (71 Lake Ave Ext, Danbury CT 06811) a las 12 p.m.
