Debra Goodwin Obituary

Debra Goodwin passed peacefully on April 5, 2022. Her husband and several family members were present at her bedside at Regional Hospice. Debra fought a valiant five-year battle against breast cancer.

Born on November 4, 1957 in Odessa, Texas, Debra is survived by her loving husband Edward Goodwin of Brookfield, CT., her devoted mother, Shirley (Orenberg)Schnoll of Houston, Texas and three loving sisters, Beth Ann Scherr, Amy Schnoll-Gritz, (husband, Stanford), Holly Hunsicker; her mother-in-law Roberta Goodwin, her siblings-in-law Donald Goodwin (wife, Marie), Chris Goodwin, Sandra Riguzzi (husband, Alfred) and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Boris Schnoll, her beloved son, Zachary Goodwin, and her sister-in-law, Leslie Goodwin.

Debra graduated from the High School for Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, Texas, and the California College of the Arts in San Francisco.

Debra married the love of her life, Edward Goodwin, on December 3, 1989 in Mill Valley, CA. After living in different areas of California, together with their son Zachary, they relocated to Brookfield, CT. in the fall of 1998. While living in California, Debra was a well-known Holistic Healer.

Her sales career in Connecticut started with Hain Celestial Food Corporation. After two years in the organic food industry, Debra switched career paths. She became employed with Tile America as a designer and sales representative. Thirteen years later Debra gained employment with Artistic Tile becoming the Regional Salesperson for the Northeast Division for seven years before retiring.

Debra had an impactful and memorable personality. She loved talking and laughing with strangers, whether it be at a grocery (organic)store, a salon, or just walking the dog. She was a vocal and passionate advocate of all animals, environmental issues, and her faith. She was an active member of her community and especially enjoyed Bible studies with the women’s group at Saint Joseph Parish. She was an avid reader and enjoyed journaling and gardening. Her enthusiasm for everything ‘organic’ impacted all who engaged with her! Her easy and spontaneous laugh will always be remembered.
