David Andrews Obituary

David Battersby Andrews, 67, of Brookfield, CT died peacefully at home on Wednesday March 25, 2020. David was born on September 8, 1952 in Kilwinning, Scotland to Joseph and Mary (Battersby) Andrews.

He immigrated to the United States as a young child and was a graduate of Brookfield High School. After high school, David served in the United States Army before taking a job at Pitney Bowes in Danbury, CT where he enjoyed a 35 year career. His love for his family was rivaled only by his love for baseball. He was an avid Phillies fan but spent many summer nights in the grandstands at Yankee and Shea Stadiums. David was a Little League Coach for many years and after his sons left the baseball diamond he went on to work as an umpire for local baseball and softball games. For the past 15 years, David spent the summer in his favorite place, Cooperstown, NY, where he worked as an umpire at the Field of Dreams and regularly visited the Baseball Hall of Fame.

David leaves behind Wendy Andrews, their son Jeffrey Andrews, their daughter Amy Martone and her husband Chris Martone, two granddaughters Sadie and Erin, his brothers Ian and Gordon Andrews, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, his son Joseph Andrews and his brother James Andrews. A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
