Daryl Highsmith Obituary

Daryl Theopolis Highsmith, of Bethel, CT, died peacefully after battling a long illness at Bethel Health Care Center on September 2, 2022. He was 64 years old.

Born on April 18, 1958, son of Glen E. Highsmith of Bethel, CT, and the late Lillie Mae Council. He was an avid New YorkYankees fan. He enjoyed beating his family and friends at card games, especially Backgammon, Rummy, and Spades.

Daryl was honest, proud, caring, and thought that life was best lived with a drink in his hand, but his lively presence fixed more than a drink ever could. Whenever you were down, Daryl was there to cheer you up and break the silence with a perfectly timed joke. Daryl was the life of every party; his greatest joy was making people laugh and forget about their worries. He will be dearly missed and always remembered.

Daryl is survived by his loving family, his father Glen and stepmother Rose, his sister Sabrina Walker, his nieces Aminah and Aliyah Walker, his nephew Gavin Highsmith, his aunt Lula Terry, his greatest supporter and rock, James Howard, and his beloved cousin Teresa Delbridge, and many more. He was predeceased by his brother Taronio Highsmith.

A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday September 10, 2022 from 10:30am-11:30pm at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South Street, Danbury). A celebration of life service will begin at 11:30am. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. A repass will be held at the family home after the celebration of life.
