Christopher “Chris” Sunderland passed on from this life on May 12th, 2025. He was born January 10th, 1977 to Wendy Erickson and Robert James Sunderland.
Chris was a fixer; he could always make sense of odds and ends and seemed to be able to swiftly diagnose any ailments affecting the various gadgets and gizmos he had around. The skill he had in putting just about anything back together certainly made him a real-life “MacGyver” in the eyes of his family and friends.
From skateboarding to kickboxing to snowboarding, taekwondo, and video games: Chris was a very active and bright kid, continually trying new things and always doing his best. As he grew, Chris also picked up a new hobby in the form of RC Cars.
The one interest that stuck with him throughout the years was baseball. From his days in his local little league to cheering (and booing) the latest games on television with his mother as an adult: Chris loved baseball more than anything. He was a big Giants and Mets fan (much to the chagrin of his NY Yankees loving mother!).
Chris was, and is still, deeply loved by his family; and his memory will forever be carried forward through the lives of his mother, Wendy Sunderland and his father, Robert Sunderland. In addition, Christopher leaves behind his uncles and aunts on his mother’s side: Christina and Mark Erickson of Texas, and Matthew Erickson of Idaho; as well as his very many beloved aunts and uncles on his father’s side- too numerous to list here.
In lieu of flowers, please consider reaching out to your town’s local little league baseball team and offer to assist them via monetary donations, or contributions of equipment or volunteer time. Otherwise, please instead consider making a charitable contribution to the Epilepsy Foundation (https://www.epilepsy.com/) or another charity of your choice in Chris’s honor.
