Charles "Charlie" Thomas Grant, 89, of Bethel, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Charlie is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Catherine “Kitty” Grant, and their two children, Tim Grant and Kelly Grant, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
A proud veteran, Charlie served in the National Guard and the U.S. Army and was deployed during the construction of the Berlin Wall—an experience that stayed with him for the rest of his life.
Charlie and Kitty made Bethel their home for over five decades, becoming proud community members. Charlie spent 35 years as a dedicated Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch, where he built lifelong relationships and earned the trust of his clients and colleagues.
Beyond his professional achievements, Charlie was committed to civic life. He was an active member of the Elks, the American Legion, and the Moose Lodge and held memberships at Rock Ridge and Newtown Country Clubs. He also served many years on the Insurance and Pension Commission for the Town of Bethel, contributing his financial expertise to benefit his neighbors and town employees.
Charlie will be remembered for his sharp wit, endless jokes, big smile, love of a good round of golf, and family and friends.
A celebration of life will be announced in the coming days.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a veterans’ charity of your choice in honor of Charlie’s service.
