Celeste F. Alves

Celeste F. Alves passed away peacefully on May 4, 2022 in Danbury, CT surrounded by her loving family. Celeste was born on November 30, 1952 in Povoade, Tonda, Portugal to the late Maria (Ferreira) and Antonio Lopes. Wife of Antonio L. Alves.

Celeste was a warm hearted woman who treated everyone like family. She had a smile that lit up the room bringing joy to all around her. She took pride in her accomplishments, especially the fact that she worked many years for Risdon Inc. manufacturing not only lipstick, but assisting at the innovative time of the roll up tubes. While she took great pride in her work, nothing made her more proud than her family and her grandchildren in particular. Celeste was known as the best cook in her family and was the first one in the kitchen whenever there was a family event. Her family will fondly remember the way that she jumped in to help everyone who needed her. She will be deeply missed by many and family gatherings will never be the same without her cooking and all of the love that she poured into it.

Celeste is survived by her loving husband Antonio L. Alves, her children Tony Alves (Elyssa) and Victor Alves (Susan), her siblings Manuela (Jose V.), Cidalia (Jose H.), Jorge (Emilia), Manuel (Anabela), her nine beloved grandchildren and three great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family both here and in Portugal. She is also survived by her brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Elisa Marques (Jose), Mary Jo Sousa (Louis), and Jose Alves (Diane). 

The family would like to express their gratitude to the Staff of the 8th and 10th Floors of the East Building at Danbury Hospital and give a special thanks to the Danbury Hospital Care Giver Center. These amazing workers were able to provide exceptional care to not only Celeste, but also to her family during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her memory be made to the Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

A Celebration of Life Gathering and Burial of Cremains will be held privately by the family.
