Catherine Woolley, 96, a resident of Ridgefield Congregate Housing on Prospect Ridge, passed away peacefully at the Regional Hospice in Danbury, CT, on Saturday, January 23, 2021. Catherine was born in New York on March 7, 1924, and was a life-long resident of New York City until she moved to Ridgefield four years ago to be close to her daughter, Laura Robinson.
Catherine worked for CBS for fifteen years, first for Columbia Records, and then moving over to CBS Publishing and Holt, Reinhart & Winston, as an editor, where she remained until retiring. Realizing that retirement is only as much fun as you make it, Catherine decided to paint full-time, and did so for several years. Catherine participated in the Ridgefield Guild of Artists’ Arts Walk. Catherine also spent as much time as she could in the Caribbean islands. Her love and study of island culture resulted in prints of her paintings being sold in many resort gift shops throughout the Caribbean.
Catherine was married to James Kennedy (deceased), and David Woolley (deceased). Catherine is survived by two daughters, Laura Robinson of Ridgefield, and Kathleen Kennedy of California, as well as three grandchildren, Laurie Harting, Sean Robinson and Lily Smith, and two great-grandchildren, Tristan and Kira. A celebration of Catherine’s life, surrounded by friends and family, will take place when the risk from Covid-19 has subsided.
