Cary Brenner

Cary Brenner, of Danbury, CT, passed away on September 18, 2025 at Danbury Hospital. He was 69 years old. 

Born on September 5, 1956 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Marvin and Selma (Sobel) Brenner. Cary graduated from Sheepshead Bay High School in 1973; he continued his education at the University of Rhode Island receiving his bachelor’s degree and receiving his DVM from Iowa State University. 

Cary married the love of his life Deborah A. Miller on October 7, 1990. They enjoyed over 34 years of love together. 

Cary was a veterinary doctor; he worked for Fieldstone Veterinary Clinic in New Fairfield and was the veterinary surgeon for Danbury Animal Welfare Society (DAWS). His passion for animals ever since he was young created an amazing career for him, he was a very skilled surgeon. 

Cary loved Jimmy Buffet music. He loved to travel to Florida, especially to the Pompano beaches. He was an avid reader, not only fiction and mystery but also educational material to make sure he was up to date on his surgical treatments. Cary had a New York City checklist; he wanted to visit the unique sights and characteristics of NYC. Cary was a family man, his goal in life was to keep everyone connected and close. 

Cary is not only survived by his beloved wife Debbie, but also his children; Cal Phalen (Lindsey), Emily Brenner (Alex Hayowyk), Molly Brenner, Natalee Brenner and Aimee Brenner, his siblings; Mitchell Brenner (Bonnie) and Susan Anderheggen (Chris) and his nieces and nephews; Dori Coffey (Jacob), Casey Brenner and Sarah Denn.

A celebration of life gathering will be held on Thursday September 25, 2025 at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South Street) from 3pm-4:30pm with a service beginning at 4:30pm. A private cremation was held prior.
