Bernard Boccia Obituary

Bernard Louis Boccia, fondly known as Ben, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2021 at Regional Hospice in Danbury, CT while surrounded by his loving family. Ben was born on November 23, 1945 in Jamaica, Queens, New York to the late Bernard and Rose (Caschera) Boccia, and was a devoted husband to Kristina (Rogalski) Boccia for 53 years.

Ben proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Bennington. Following his leave from the military, Ben was an ambitious entrepreneur. For many years he worked in Manhattan as a film editor specializing in television commercials, owned Italian City Deli in Westchester, NY, and was appointed the honor of Commander for his volunteer efforts with VFW Post 5491 in Mahopac, NY. Ben was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying nothing more than hunting, fishing, and being in nature with his friends and family.

In addition to his beloved wife, Kristina, Ben is survived by his son Bernard L. Boccia Jr. (wife Jennifer), daughter Lisa K. Branner (husband Klemens), grandson Bryan Lewis Boccia, brother Anthony Boccia, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other cherished family members. Ben is predeceased by his three sisters Dolores Dreher, Jeanette Fackovec, and Geraldine Servidio.

In keeping with Ben’s wishes, his life will be celebrated at a private gathering. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Ben’s honor to the Glioblastoma Foundation.
