Barbara Escott Locke, of Brookfield, died on June 27, 2022, leaving five dearly loved adult children and their families: Laura and life partner Frank, Jeffrey and wife Ainet, Stephen and wife Celina, Brian, and Michael. I acknowledge that my children sacrificed, with love, to make my life easier. I am also survived by treasured granddaughters, grandsons, and great grandchildren.
I leave behind a scarf on knitting needles, books unread, photographs to be sorted, a mental plan for a landscape painting and most importantly a wealth of dear friends whose many kindnesses I could never repay.
I ask that, in place of flowers or tears, you continue to live your lives with kindness, forgiveness, compassion, love and especially laughter.
My family arrived in Brookfield in 1970. I have a thank you list of those who cared for us. First, the police and fire departments. We always felt safe, and you were there when needed. Also included are the Hi-Way Market, the Brookfield Cleaners, LB’s Barber Shop, Superior Auto Service, CVS Pharmacy, the folks at the Post Office, Library, and friends / neighbors at Brooks Quarry. I must also acknowledge the physicians, PA’s, RN’s, dentists who cared for me through the years and those by whom I was employed.
There will be no service. I have donated my body to medical science. Imagine the face of the medical student who inherits this poor dilapidated cadaver.
If desired, donations in my memory may be made to TBTA (The Brookfield Theatre of the Arts), formerly the Brookfield Country Players, P.O. Box 528, Brookfield CT 06804. I spent many happy hours there.
All in all, it was a good life with more ups than downs and more love and laughter than I deserved.
Thank you.
