She is survived by her sons K.C. She is also survived by her brother, Tom Couture (Carol) of Danbury, and sisters, Irene Gillotti of Torrington and Frances Mitchell of Brookfield.
Arlene was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Andrew (Drew) Grouse, her son, Andy Grouse, her parents Yvonne (Toussaint) Couture and Fernand Couture and brother, Donald Couture.
Arlene and Drew moved to Brookfield in the early 1960’s to raise their family. In addition to being the restaurant manager at Read’s Department Store during the 1970’s, she held other jobs through the years. But home was where her heart was. Arlene could never sit still, except when reading a good book, finishing it in a day or two. She found enjoyment in gardening, painting, needlepoint, crochet, baking and cooking for her family. She enjoyed the birds that called her yard home, and she recreated many of those birds in her paintings and embroidery. Her greatest joy was making memories for her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be missed by all of us that loved her.
There will be no services or calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. To light a candle in her memory or leave a condolence, please visit the tribute wall at the top of the obituary page.
