Antonio Fernandes

Antonio Fernandes passed away on September 21 st , 2025. He was born on March 16 th , 1933 in Lousa, Portugal to Joao Fernandes and Lucinda Almeida. Antonio was a man who enjoyed many things. He loved cooking and taking long car rides out to the beach so he could spend the rest of his day fishing. Working as a machinist for years for both Stanley and Black + Decker, you could say that Antonio was always good with working with his hands and solving little problems.

He married the love of his life: Maria Alice Antunes DeMatos in 1958 and the pair had two beautiful children together- something Antonio was very proud of. Antonio was social and outgoing; always up for a game of cards with his many acquaintances at the Portuguese Center or cheering on his favorite soccer team with his friends! Above all: Antonio cherished his family and they loved him just as much right back.

Antonio’s legacy is carried on by his children: Isabel Carvalho (Arthur) and Antonio Fernandes (David Rowan) as well as his grandchildren: Ian Carvalho (Brianna), Kristen Raymond (Gary), and Nicole Carvalho. In addition, he is survived by his great-grandchildren: Olivia, Cecilia, Drew, Alyse, Jordan, and Jayden; as well as his siblings: Pompeu Fernandes and Maria Manuela Rodrigues Goncalves. He has gone on to reunite with his wife, in addition to his parents and his siblings Ilidia, Natalie and Fernando.

Visitation will be held at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South St. Danbury, CT. 06810) on Thursday, September 25 th 2025 from 8:30am to 9:30am with a Mass of Christian Burial that same day at 10:00am at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish (149 Deer Hill Ave, Danbury, CT 06810). Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery (71 Lake Ave Ext, Danbury, CT 06810).
