Our beloved brother and friend Andre Lefranc passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 9th, 2024, at Laurel Ridge Nursing Home at the age of 69 years old.
Andre was born on June 8th, 1954, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He was the son of the late Bernard and Marie Francoise Lefranc. Andre graduated from Jean-Price Mars University and continued his education at Séminaire de Théologie Évangelique de Port-Au-Prince (STEP) in Bolosse, Haiti where he earned his associate degree in Christian theology. While in Haiti, he was also studying engineering and accounting. In addition, he worked as a math tutor to many of his peers and younger adolescents in the community. He eventually went on to find and marry the love of his life, Josette Gabriel, on December 27th, 1985. From then on, he romantically displayed his love for his wife over their 38 years of marriage.
In 1990, Andre came to America to start his family with his wife. Upon arriving in the states, he worked as an assembler with U.S.Surgical for many years. Beyond his day-to-day work, he took delight in being involved with the Haitian Christian community. He was a devout member and deacon at his church home, The French Speaking Baptist Church of Danbury. He was tremendously dedicated to his church family and truly a man of faith and great character. Throughout the many obstacles Andre faced, he kept his faith strong and steadfast until the very end.
Spreading the gospel of Christ gave Andre immense joy. He diligently studied the word of God and wore it on his heart. One of his favorite scriptures to read was Psalms 4, where David declares God as his safety, “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety” (Psalms 4:8).
Andre was a scholar who was excited about lifelong learning in a variety of areas. His library was filled with books of intellect, encouragement, wisdom, and development. He also was a writer and often wrote pieces about his life. His love for the arts was evident by his music collection and photography. On any given day, you could hear him singing along to a beautiful song playing from his stereo and often known for capturing memories at important family and friend events with photos. He was a passionate man filled with affection, ready to spread love to anyone he crossed paths with.
His love for his family and friends was prominent through his actions, as he would often send long handwritten cards for every occasion, and often call to check in on family and members of the community, and most importantly pray for them consistently. Andre had a way of making everyone feel special as he would admirably remember everyone’s birthday and would call and send gifts. He was even seen writing birthday cards to people while in the hospital. Andre is not only survived by his loving wife Josette, but also his four daughters; Jodelle Lefranc Miller married to Eric Miller, Rebecca Lefranc, KetsiaLefranc and Keren Happuc Lefranc. He is also survived by his twosisters; Ghislaine Nazaire married to Dr. Yvon Nazaire and his youngest sister Aimee Lefranc.
Andre’s love for his family and community will be deeply remembered. We thank God for his life of servitude.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday February 17, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (44 Spring Street, Danbury) with the viewing from 8am-9am, and the funeral service starting at 9am. Interment will follow at Wooster Cemetery (20 Ellsworth Avenue, Danbury).
