Alexander “Banger” Chauvin Jr, of Dover Plains, NY, passed away in the comfort of his own home on May 8, 2026. He was 76 years old.
Born on July 8, 1949, in Danbury, CT, he was the son of the late Alexander and Mildred (Christopher) Chauvin. Alexander attended Danbury schools.
Alexander was a truck driver for Harrison based in Danbury, CT where he worked with his father Alexander Sr “Bogger” and his brother George for many years then work as a truck driver with Grosso Construction, based in Danbury, CT, he then went on to work for Allied Moving where he worked with his best friend Bruce Smith, he worked with United Rental Equipment out of Knoxville, TN and lastly he worked for Performance Landex out of Ridgefield, CT before retiring. Alexander’s hobbies were smoking his Lucky Strike cigarettes, riding his Harley and hanging out with his best friend of 67 years Bruce Smith.
Alexander is survived by his children; Greg (Michele) Chauvin, Sueann Barber (Jeff), Sheila Chauvin, Jessy (Zack) Helso and Ashley Chauvin (Justin), his grandchildren; Alexis (Thomas), Devan, Brittney (Justin). Gregory (Nicole), Giavonni (Carmen), Jordan, Braylon, Jayce, & Lennan and his great grandchildren; Greyson, Gianna, Emily & Olivia and his siblings; George (Anita) Chauvin and the late James Chauvin, his nephews George (Sarah) Chauvin, Chris Chauvin and James Chauvin.
A life gathering celebration will be held on Wednesday May 27, 2026, from 5pm-7pm at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South Street). A private cremation was held prior. Danbury Memorial Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. To send condolences visit www.danburymemorial.com.
