Adilia DeMoura Douglas died on November 3rd 2025 in Redding, Connecticut. She was born on September 26th, 1946 in Lisbon, Portugal to David and Patrocinia DeMoura.
Adilia was born and raised in Portugal. She came to the United States in 1974 . After completing her studies, she worked in various office jobs before joining the administrative staff at Cambridge School, a commercial language school in Lisbon. She met Tom in 1973 when Tom joined the staff as an English teacher. Later, after a year in Paris, the two were married and raised a family and shared a life of love for 51 years. They lived in New York City, moving to Westport. They finally settled in Fairfield in 2013.
Adilia loved her family dearly. She enjoyed entertaining and was known to be a great hostess to those who came to sit at her table. Always a seafood lover, she created wonderful dinners for her friends and family. She had a deep appreciation for classical music and opera. She and her husband traveled extensively, visiting many countries. She enjoyed their trips to Africa and Hawaii the best. She was very fond of nature and could be found outside admiring the natural world.
She is survived by her husband: Thomas Douglas, in addition to her beloved children: Adam Douglas David Douglas, Abilio Ramos and Ana Ramos. Her grandchildren Bruno, Pedro and Joana Jorge Riley. A celebration of life gathering will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025 from 11am-1pm at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South Street, Danbury). Private interment at St. Mary's Cemetery.
