Willam Eugene Yoder

William Eugene Yoder Sr. passed away on Friday August 16, 2019 at his home in Wolcott, Connecticut surrounded by his loving family. William was born on March 13, 1938 in Jermyn, Pennsylvania to the late Lila Mae (Baker) and Claude H. Yoder.

William worked until his retirement as the head of Maintenance for the State of CT at Fairfield Hills. In his earlier days, he also worked for Amphenol and Chayes Dental. In his retirement years he enjoyed participating in Bowling, Darts and Pool leagues. He was a dedicated Yankees fan. He enjoyed taking his daily walks. However, out of all his hobbies, he was the most proud of his participation in the polar plunge. Annually, William always took part in the polar plunge for charity events. He was a kind and loving soul who will be dearly missed.

William is survived by his loving children William E. Yoder Jr., Karen Stanzione, Jeffery Yoder, Cheryl Wells and her husband Donald, James Yoder Sr. and his wife Christy, and Dawn Schappach and her husband Keith. He is also survived by his ex-wife and close friend Daryl F. Christiano and many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

William was predeceased by his son Michael. Three brothers; Kendall Yoder, Norman Yoder Sr., and Russell Galbreth. As well as two sisters; Clara Decker and Nancy Goodspeed.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South St. Danbury, CT) on Thursday August 22, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hartford Heathcare of Watertown, CT (680 Main St. Watertown,CT 130601) To leave a condolence or light a candle in his memory, please visit Danburymemorial.com
