Walter Torielli passed away peacefully on May 21, 2018 at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT. Walter was born on July 4, 1921 in Danbury, CT to the late Catherine (Walsh) and Walter Torielli.
Walter proudly worked as a Lieutenant Firefighter for the City of Danbury Fire Department for 31 years, until his retirement in 1981. He was the longest living paid firefighter for the City of Danbury. In 1951, Walter married the love of his life Eleanor (Scozzafava) Torielli.
Besides enjoying his career as a firefighter, he loved swimming in the ocean, singing his favorite songs, and his trips to Atlantic City.
Walter is survived by his beloved wife Eleanor Torielli. Brother in law John Scozzafava (Paula) of Danbury. Nephews John Scozzafava (Carol) of Florida, Joseph Scozzafava (Donna) of Danbury, Henry Scozzafava (Joy) of Danbury, and niece Katherine Keller (Roger) of Virginia. As well as, many other nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his sister Veronica Torielli and brothers in law; Saverio Scozzafava and Joseph Scozzafava.
Visitation will be held on Saturday May 26, 2018 at St Joseph’s Church in Danbury, CT from 9 to 10 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at St Peter’s Cemetery in Danbury, CT.
