Jane Coonrod Welsh

Jane Coonrod Welsh passed away peacefully at her home in Redding CT on July 18, 2019 while surrounded by her loving family. Jane was born on November 18, 1936 in Ashton, Idaho to the late Madge (Miller) and Melvin A. Coonrod. She was the wife of Dr. Ralph S. Welsh.

Jane worked as the Administrative Director of the Dietary Department of Filosa Care Center for many years before her retirement. She also worked at Norwalk Community College for a time, teaching classes on nutrition. 

Jane was an expert swimmer, loved scuba diving, enjoyed musicals and was a voracious reader. Most of all she cherished spending quality time with her family.

Jane is survived by her beloved husband Ralph S. Welsh,  PhD and their four children, Daughters Sydney A. Gregorio (husband Gene) and  Regan J. Welsh, MD; sons Scott R. Welsh, MD and Todd S. Welsh, MD (wife Judy).  Five grandchildren; Joshua Gregorio, Jason Gregorio, Erin Davies-Welsh, Ian Davies-Welsh,  and Samantha Welsh. She also is survived by her three siblings, Ann Meyer, Melvin Coonrod, and Nathan Coonrod, MD.  

A private family gathering is planned at our land in Maine where she loved watching the loons and the sunsets over the lake.  Donations can be made to www.lewybody.org to continue the fight against this devastating disease.
