Harold E. Walker passed away peacefully on October 17, 2018. He was born in Ridgefield, CT on March 16, 1928 to Wm. Stanley Walker and Catherine Brady Walker, their third son.
He graduated Ridgefield High School in 1946; thereupon entering the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1949. Thereafter he attended Danbury Teachers College (WestConn), where he received an Associate in Science Degree in 1951. He married Barbara Jane Smith and had three children; David, Deborah, and Nancy.
He worked in the lab with Dr. Bertram Rossner, at the Veteran’s Hospital in West Haven, CT. Thereafter, he worked in the X-Ray department of Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in North Haven, CT and also at P&W Aircraft atomic engine research facility in Middletown, CT. Other employment was obtained as Powder Mixing Room Foreman at American Sintered Alloys, in North Haven, CT. Following this time, Mr. Walker attended Central Connecticut State College for an M.S. teaching degree. He signed a long-term agreement with Danbury Public Schools where he taught General Science and Introduction to Physical Science, until 1985.
At Ridgefield High School he was contracted to teach driver education from 1987 to 1994; thereupon he substituted in the school system from second to eleventh grade. He is survived by his son: David Walker and wife Janeann, of Danbury, CT; his daughter Deborah Walker, of Ridgefield, CT; and his daughter Nancy Walker-Corbett and her husband James, of New Milford, CT; also one grandson Christopher and one granddaughter Jessica and one niece.
A graveside service will be held on November 17th, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Ridgefield Cemetery located on the corner of Rt. 116 and North Street, Ridgefield, CT.
