George Usaty Sr. passed away peacefully on October 24, 2017 at Bethel Healthcare in Bethel, CT. George was born on October 1, 1931 in the Bronx, NY, to the late Mary (Budginoski) and Joseph R. Usaty. George was a proud army veteran and worked as a salesman for GlaxoSmithKline before his retirement. George loved boating when the weather was nice and was an avid fan of all the New York sports teams. However, he loved his wife and family most of all.
George is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Catherine (Fitzgerald) Usaty and their three children, sons George Usaty (Jennifer) of New Milford, Bob Usaty of Danbury and daughter Karen Lyons (Chris) of Oxford, and six grandchildren, Joseph Usaty, Chris Usaty, Andrew Usaty, Spencer Lyons, Austin Usaty and Preston Lyons, as well as a few cousins and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday October 27, 2017 at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South St, Danbury CT 06810) from 5 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service to begin at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday October 28, 2017 at 10 Am St. Francis Xavier Church (26 Chestnut Land Rd, New Milford, CT 06776) with entombment to follow at St. Peter Cemetery in Danbury, CT.In lieu of flowers donations may be made in George’s honor to St. Judes Children’s Hospital (www.stjude.org/Donate)To light a candle or leave a condolence in his memory please visit Danburymemorial.com
