Dorothy Brittle

Dorothy Brittle, 92, formerly from Brookfield Center, passed away peacefully in Burkeville, Virginia on August 17, 2018. She was born on July 4, 1926 in Manhattan, the daughter of Daniel and Bertha Sullivan. Dorothy was the devoted wife of Samuel Brittle, a helmsman on the battleship New York, whom she married in 1944.

She was the mother of three children, Gerald Brittle of Virginia, Christine Smith (deceased), and Susan Bennett of Florida, along with four grandchildren Aaron Smith, William Smith, Emma Graham, and Michael Graham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Brookfield, Connecticut. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Brookfield beside her husband at the top of the hill. Other than the funeral Mass there will be no viewing.
