Delores Elleby Obituary

Delores (Sista) Scott Elleby, entered into eternal rest on Friday June 7, 2019 at Danbury Hospital surrounded by her family. She was 76 years old.

Delores was born on June 22, 1942 in Savannah, GA the daughter of the late James Scott and Willie Mae Coaxum Scott. Delores attended Savannah Public Schools. Delores moved to Danbury in 1975 from Savannah, GA. working as a home maker, and then employed at American Radionic Company. She later became a stay at home mom.

Delores was a loving mom, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, to know her was to love her. She was very family orientated. Taking care of her family was what she took pride in most. Cooking was something she loved to do and her specialties were Red Rice and Hopping Johns. She also loved playing cards with her family and friends. Delores was the light in the lives of many people young and old. She was a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, an advisor, a confidant, giver of love, good vibes and strength. Delores was honored on August 12, 2016 by the Bill S. Curtis Harambee Center for Youth Services and Community Services for her thoughtfulness towards her community.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Vera L. Frietas and two (2) sons Ronnie L. Scott of Danbury, CT and Shawn T. Elleby of Waterbury, CT; Two (2) sisters Jamesetta Scott of Danbury, CT  and Cynthia (William) Scott Mayo of Danbury, CT; Fourteen (14) grandchildren, Thanikki Scott of Danbury, CT, Tenesha (Kizzy) Scott of Waterbury, CT, Jaswoine Elleby of Danbury, CT, Shakina Gordon of Danbury, CT, Chantay Gibson of Danbury, CT, Tyron Elleby of Danbury, CT, Yimesha Rosado of Bridgeport, CT, Cassandra Watson of Danbury, CT, Oceana Rosado of Bridgeport, CT, Ovion Gordon of Bridgeport, CT, Jalen Morey-Elleby of Danbury, CT, Na-Shawn Elleby of Danbury, CT, Larenz Howard of Waterbury, CT; Twenty (20) Great grandchildren; Three (3) Great great Grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and a host of cousins and close friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Leon Elleby; Two (2) daughters Shelia D. Scott and Valithea F. Elleby; Granddaughter Tishica D. Scott. Three (3) Sisters Tomasina Mitchell, Henrietta Brockington and Geraldine Swan; Three (3) Brothers Marion Coaxum, James Scott, Jr., and Charles Scott.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at Victory Church (23 Eden Dr, Danbury, CT 06810) on Tuesday June 18, 2019 from 11:00am – 12:00 pm  with a Celebration of Life Service at 12:00pm. to light a candle or to send a condolence please visit www.danburymemorial.com
