Ann S. McCrea Rosado , 90, of Danbury, Connecticut, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 31, 2018. “Annie” (as she was known to everyone, even her children) was born on December 12, 1927 in Kingstree, South Carolina, to the late Thomas and Mary (McClary ) McCrea.
She was one of 22 children. Annie spent most of her early years in South Carolina before relocating to Danbury where she found employment with the Green Hotel, Danbury Hospital, Top Stone Rubber and retiring from the Ethan Allen Inn. In 2003, Annie was baptized and joined New Hope Baptist Church, attending regularly up until her illness. Annie was an accomplished seamstress and could make just about anything. Some of her favorite times were spent cooking, fishing, partying (she loved to dance) and loving on her children, her grandchildren, and even the neighborhood children. As much as she showed her love to her family, you would not want to make Annie angry. Annie had a beloved cockatoo named Rican that was with her for thirty years. She was heartbroken after he passed away in March of this year.
Annie is survived by three daughters, Mary Violee Council, Margie (Ronnie) McCrea and Mary Margaret Rosado all of Danbury; one sister, Obell Murray of Danbury; fourteen grandchildren; thirty six great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; one great-greatgreat-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. She was predeceased one son, James Zoonie Chatman, one daughter, Eileen McCrea and her twenty siblings.
